What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine allows you to get the medical and mental health care services you need through virtual visits. Instead of going to the office, you connect with your provider online. When it’s time for your scheduled visit, you simply use your smartphone, tablet, or computer to have a video meeting.

Who can use telemedicine?

Anyone struggling with a mental health condition can schedule a telemedicine appointment at Danielle Damas, Psychiatric NP, PC. They offer treatment for most mental, emotional, and behavioral challenges, including:

What services are available through telemedicine?

Danielle Damas, Psychiatric NP, PC, offers all their services through telemedicine, including:

Initial consultation and follow-up appointments

New patients can schedule their first appointment through telemedicine. You complete forms online before your first appointment. Then, your provider sends instructions for connecting online.

During your virtual meeting, your provider learns about your symptoms and concerns, completes a psychiatric assessment, and determines your diagnosis.

They collaborate with you to create a treatment plan that best meets your personal needs and mental health goals. After your initial consultation, all your follow-up appointments are virtual visits.

Medication management

If you need psychiatric medications, your provider schedules regular medication management appointments. At each appointment, they learn if your symptoms have improved and whether you have any side effects. Then they decide if you need adjustments to the dose or type of medication and send the prescription to your local pharmacy.

Blood testing

Some psychiatric medications require routine blood tests to monitor your health for potential side effects. Danielle Damas, Psychiatric NP, PC, offers convenient medication management through E-lab orders for blood draws.

Does insurance pay for telemedicine?

Danielle Damas, Psychiatric NP, PC doesn’t currently accept insurance. You only need to call to learn about up-front pricing and payment accommodations.

However, private health insurers should reimburse you for your out-of-pocket expenses. Most insurance providers pay for telemedicine at the same rate they cover in-office services. The specific services and fees they cover depend on your individual policy, so check with your provider to learn what they will reimburse.
